Michael Gimbrere
Even as a political science major in college, Michael was focused on collaboration through his concentration in community organizing. His earliest organizing efforts encompassed affordable housing, vocational training and sustainable construction. With the creation of The Pat Cooke Fund in partnership with Bill Walczak and in memory of Pat Cooke, his organizing narrowed focus to the importance of education and network building in creating and promoting climate justice.
Michael’s passionate belief is that through education and coalition building, we will become stronger in our efforts to reduce carbon emissions and at the same time create opportunities for students and others interested in pursuing careers in the built environment. The earlier we engage our youth, the better our chances of creating a more sustainable planet.
Michael is Lead Carpenter and Warranty Manager at Byggmeister, an employee-owned sustainable design and builder cooperative.
